– #Brief Paradoxical Intention on the Endorsement of Gun Violence in the United States –
The U.S. has the 28th-highest rate of deaths from gun violence in the world: 4.31 deaths per 100,000 people in 2021. That was more than seven times as high as the rate in Canada, which had 0.57 deaths per 100,000 people — and about 340 times higher than in the United Kingdom, which had 0.013 deaths per 100,000.

Among 65 high-income countries and territories, the United States stands out for its high levels of gun violence. The US ranks seventh out of 65 for homicides by firearm (age-adjusted). Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, two US territories, rank first and fourth on that list. Firearm injuries tend to be more frequent in places where people have easy access to firearms, according to findings from the 2018 Global Burden of Disease study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

In 2024 there were at least 117 incidents of gunfire on school grounds, resulting in 32 deaths and 65 injuries nationally.

The gun violence epidemic is a uniquely American issue. Americans are 26x more likely to be shot and killed than others in high-income countries. Every day, 327 people are shot in the United States. Of those, on average, 117 will die. 23 minors are shot in the United States.

The number of children and teens killed by gunfire in the United States increased 50% between 2019 and 2021, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of the latest annual mortality statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
